The Bold Leap into Uncharted Territory
One of those jobs was a live-facing redesign. My first thinking of the room had to be understated: subtle hues, minimal furniture, and whatever forms could make for a soft and cohesive atmosphere. Then the clients walked in, and they were like, That’s not what we see. They wanted drama, excitement, and boldness-an interior that makes a statement than just a house or room which fades into the background.
They encouraged me to embrace a color palette that I wouldn’t have chosen myself: deep teal walls, a striking contrast of mustard yellow furniture, and a statement black-and-white patterned rug. For a moment, I hesitated. That had been an exploration I had never embarked on entirely. It felt like a high-energy risk that needed balance with harmonies of heavy saturation. But the confidence of the clients to work in that direction helped me to believe in this vision, and I jumped in with enthusiasm.

Balancing Boldness with Harmony
Details are that final element. I took on that challenge, but made certain that the individual design elements complemented each other-not the minute they stepped in; instead, they drenched the space in the mustard yellow sofa, ceding the spotlight to that central furnishing, encircled with elegant, tailored accessories, like sleek black lamps and soft neutral drapes.
Mixing and matching around a base of timeless, classic pieces resulted in a vibrant, energetic living room but still felt grounded and welcoming with playing with such contrasts-both bold colors and textures. That was precisely the kind of space that perfectly reflected the adventurous spirit of my client and a need for something different.

The end result in this particular project was above and beyond that expected from the clients while also leaving me with a sense of accomplishment and growth. These kinds of projects opened my eyes and proved that stepping out of the familiar will yield countless rewards.Β
Design with Fearless Creativity So what is the lesson from this experience? Interior design is not about the end product, but about the creative exploration that leads to it. Sometimes the most exciting and promising designs come from a moment of doubt, a deep breath, and a leap of faith into unknown territory. So grateful to have the kind of clients who believe that I can push boundaries; I cannot wait to see what other bold and out-of-the-box challenges lie ahead.
