The Cozy Retreat of a Designer in New York That Shines Visibly A Thoughtful Mosaic and Inimitable Functionality

"A house should not just be a place, it should be an experience, a mark of individual taste, and a sanctuary for body and mind," says a designer Alex Hayes, whose New York apartment is quite stunning. Hayes, having an impeccable eye for design, brings this space to life by merging the modernity with beautiful intuition of vintage while keeping within the balance and harmony principles inspired by Vaastu, the Indian architecture system.

Creating an Artistic Balance

Hayes’ apartment, situated in the heart of vibrant Chelsea in Manhattan, is a perfect accentuation of the old and the new. Set within the parameters of a historic building with soaring high ceilings and big rooms, Hayes puts every measure to ensure that he keeps as much of the old style of his apartment while bringing in some subtle modern definitions that give the space a fresh inviting spirit.

“One of those things I had in mind very early was bringing lots of natural light and colors into space without overwhelming it,” explains Hayes. “And to make sure it feels grounded and tranquil, which reflects a little harmony that I might have in a bustling city like New York.”

In terms of establishing energies to flow harmoniously conducive to peace and productivity, Hayes was inspired by the principles of Vaastu that guide on space orientation, light, and balance. He is a devotee of the natural materials and created an earthen palette of soft greens, warm woods, and creamy whites throughout the apartment.

A Place for Nurture and Rejuvenation

For Alex Hayes, the apartment does not talk of design only; it is a space for rejuvenation and nurturing. Each item has been carefully chosen and placed to make this apartment a sanctuary for him and his family. “A home should be your place of rest and healing with the hustle and bustle of city life”.
